Cricket's Three Formats and Tournaments Popular with Bangladeshis

If you are interested in cricket betting, the first thing to know is how the three different formats affect your betting approach. T20 matches are a maximum of 20 overs, so results change quickly and sometimes a single over can turn everything around. Markets also move very fast at pressure moments.

ODI, or One Day International, matches are 50 overs, giving more opportunity to analyse the mid-match situation. Test matches run over five days — in this format, pitch conditions, weather, and a team's batting depth matter a great deal.

The most eagerly followed tournament among Bangladeshi fans is the BPL. When stadiums in Dhaka and Chattogram are packed, the betting markets are just as lively. Beyond that, every match of the IPL and the T20 World Cup is available on n baje.

Bangladesh Tigers' matches in international cricket get the most attention. Multiple markets are open at the same time for every match the team plays in ICC tournaments.

n baje football and sports betting markets

Football and Other Sports — How They Differ from Cricket

Alongside cricket, n baje also offers football betting. Football matches run a maximum of 90 minutes (excluding extra time), so the Match Winner market has three outcomes — 1 (Home win), X (Draw), and 2 (Away win). In T20 cricket there is no draw, so that market is limited to two outcomes.

Football has a separate Over/Under market for the number of goals, where the line is commonly 2.5 goals. Cricket similarly has a Total Runs Over/Under market, but the line is a much higher number — perhaps 160 or 170 runs in T20.

You can also bet on Kabaddi, tennis, and badminton. The number of markets in these sports is not as large as in cricket or football, but the basic markets — Match Winner and Total Points — are generally available. Popular Markets in Cricket Betting — What Each One Means

Multiple markets run at the same time for every cricket match. Below are seven of the most familiar markets, each with a simple example.

Match Winner

This market is simply about which of the two teams will win. Choose between Team A and Team B — whichever team wins the match pays out your bet.

Simplest

Toss Winner

This market is about which team will win the toss. It is completely separate from the match result — winning the toss does not mean winning the match.

Short-term

Top Batsman

A market where you pick which batter will score the most runs for a specific team. Example: which batter will score the highest runs for Team A?

Skill-based

Total Runs Over/Under

A bet on whether the total runs in an innings will be above (Over) or below (Under) a set number. For example, whether Team A's innings will exceed 165 runs.

Runs-based

Top Bowler

A market where you pick which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings or across the whole match. Pitch conditions play a significant role here.

Bowler-based

Multi Bet

Multiple bets are placed together on a single slip. If all selections are correct, the return multiplies — but if any one loses, the entire stake is gone.

High Risk

Man of the Match

A market for who will be named the best player of the match. Since there are usually several candidates, the odds tend to be comparatively higher.

Special Market

Decimal, Fractional and American Odds — Three Ways of Saying the Same Thing

Odds are written in three different formats, but they all express the same information differently. On n baje, you can choose whichever format you prefer.

Format Odds for Team A to win Explanation
Decimal 3.00 Total return including stake — meaning a ৳500 bet returns ৳1,500 in total
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked — excluding the stake
American (Plus) +200 ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet — the plus sign indicates an underdog

Example 1 (৳500 bet on Team A to win):
Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. If the bet wins, total return is ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 stake). If the bet loses, ৳500 is gone.

Example 2 (Favourite Team B, ৳500 bet):
Decimal 1.80 = Fractional 4/5 = American −125. American minus odds mean you need to bet ৳125 to make ৳100 profit. A ৳500 bet returns ৳900 in total (৳400 profit).

How Multi Bet Calculations Work

In a multi bet (accumulator), the odds of each selection are multiplied together.

3 selections — odds 1.70, 1.80, 1.90:
Combined odds = 1.70 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.81 (approx)
৳100 stake returns ৳581 — if all three selections win. If any one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.

The reason returns are higher in a multi bet is that the risk is also higher. Adding five or six selections instead of three will increase the odds further, but getting all of them right becomes harder.

Betting is always for entertainment — remember, responsible gaming means enjoying it within your means.

n baje live in-play betting with changing odds

Live In-Play Betting — Odds Shift When Wickets Fall

You can still place bets after a match has started — this is called live or in-play betting. In this mode, odds update after almost every ball.

For example: Team A has scored 28 runs in the first two overs without losing a wicket. At this point Team A's odds of winning will naturally shorten (meaning they become the favourite). If two quick wickets then fall, the odds will lengthen again.

Large odds movements are seen after the end of an over, after a big catch is dropped, or following a rain break. Live betting requires attention and the ability to make quick decisions.

Live — markets on ongoing matches remain open until the result is confirmed.

Some Useful Pointers for Cricket Betting

These are not strategies that guarantee profit — they are guidelines for enjoying betting more consciously.

Understand the format before choosing a market

Total Runs markets fluctuate more in T20. Match Winner markets tend to be more stable in ODI or Test matches.

Focus on one market

Start by building experience in a single market (such as Match Winner). Betting across many markets at once causes confusion.

Set a budget beforehand

Decide how much you are willing to spend in a session before it starts and stick to it — increasing your budget under the pressure of wanting to win is not a good idea.

Keep pitch and weather in mind

Whether the pitch favours batting or bowling has a big impact on Total Runs markets. If rain is forecast, large swings can occur in live markets.

Be careful with multi bets

Returns on multi bets can look attractive, but the risk is equally high. It is better to limit yourself to two or three selections at first.

Betting is for entertainment

Betting is a way to add to the enjoyment of watching cricket — not a source of income. Avoid the tendency to place large bets to chase losses.

Cricket Betting FAQ

T20 matches are a maximum of 20 overs, so results shift quickly and live odds move fast. Back-to-back wickets in a single over can cause large odds swings. ODI matches are 50 overs, giving more time to analyse the mid-match situation, and more mid-innings markets are available.

Odds shift the most right after a wicket falls. When two or three wickets fall in quick succession, the batting team's odds of winning change noticeably. Odds also move quickly at the end of the powerplay, after a rain break, and during death bowling in the last five overs.

Generally yes — both tournaments offer Match Winner, Total Runs Over/Under, Top Batsman, and Toss markets. However, availability of specific markets may vary by match. In live mode, some markets may be more or fewer than pre-match.

A multi bet can include more than one selection. As the number of selections increases, the chance of all of them being correct decreases, though the combined odds rise. A 3-selection multi bet with odds of 1.70 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.81 (approx), so a ৳100 stake returns ৳581 if all selections win. If any one loses, the entire stake is gone.

Yes, you can bet on Test matches. A draw is a valid result in Tests, so the Match Winner market has three options — Team A win, Team B win, and Draw. If the match cannot be completed due to rain or pitch conditions, bets are settled according to the betting rules.
